Could Wrinkles Inside The Cheek Be Due To Chewing Stokers?
Hello Doctor. My name is Austin and I play baseball in college and recently have started chewing. I chewed before but like once or twice a month but now I have done started doing it a little more often. Im not a heavy chewer or addicted (i do not crave chew) but I would consider myself a mild hypochondriac as my parents say and today after my chew the inside of my cheek had little wrinkles inside. My friend said it is called leather lip and the chew I had which is called Stokers causes this. I usually chew skoal and never have had this happen. Just wondering your thoughts of what you think
Hello and welcome to HCM, In case you are feeling the inside of your cheek mucosa to be irregular or developing red or white colored patch, you need to consult an ENT specialist for clinical assessment of the region. A biopsy may be required to look for any changes in the lining epithelium. Chewing tobacco or any of its forms can lead to development of cancer. Thus, it is advisable to stop using tobacco based products.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
