Daughter Has Umbilical Hernia, Intestine Prolapsed. Suggestion?
My three year old daughter has an umbilical hernia. Her intestine prolapsed last week. We had a consultation with a surgeon who said once there is a prolapse it is unlikely to resolve on its own. I'm wondering about the efficacy of the surgery, does it last for a long time, or will we start something that will require more interventions?
Hi,thank you for the interest you have shown in HCM.Usually, umbalical hernia in the infancy is physiological peculiarity and age advances and when the recti muscles get developed and strengthened, the umbalical hernia subsides spontaneously and when it continues and that too intestine prolapsed,it will not resolve spontaneously in a 3 year old child,it is highly essential to consult a Pediatric surgeon immediately for further management in surgical lines, which is the line of choice.
