Delayed Period. Faint Pink Line In Pregnancy Test. Done Serum Blood HCG Test. Worried

I am late with the period by 8 days on 3rd december 2012 i checked home test where one line was fainted pink and others line was dark pink..today when i visit dr she gave me other kit and here it comes negetive i am very confused though Dr said for serum blood hcg test report wll come after two days...i am very worried what is the possible reason behind it please advice .... regards Shwet nisha YYYY@YYYY

Thanks for writing in.
The reason behind it could be either false positive pregnancy test or real pregnancy with low hcg levels.
False positive test could be due to following reasons-
Hcg containing drugs, less urine drops used in test, test read after long time, proteinuria, chemical pregnancy [early miscarriage causing periods to come at regular interval].
Even low hcg levels can cause similar reaction.
I would recommend you- not to worry. Pregnancy is nature gift to women, wait for 2 more days without stress and take things positively.
