Delayed Period, Spotting And Menstrual Cramps After Intercourse, Nausea. Could It Be Ectopic Pregnancy?

in 2011 I had a tubal ligation, clamps only. My period is 10 days late, took a pregnancy test and was negative. Had light pink spotting and menstrual cramping after intercourse that lasted less than 12 hours. Now 2 days later I am spotting again, very crampy and nauseous with slight back pain also I have a hazy cloudy feeling. Could it be an ectopic pregnancy? Oh, I am 34 years old.

Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

Urine pregnancy test though a quick and easy home test, might not detect pregnancy with certainty. If I were your treating doctor, I would go for a serum B-HCG estimation followed by an ultrasound abdomen to rule out pregnancy or any other pelvic pathology for sure.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.

Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef
