Delayed Periods. Had Lumpectomy And Radiation For DCIS In The Past. On Tamoxifen. Is This Normal?
Hello, Thanks for reviewing my question. I am 45 years old and my periods have been irregular for past one year, sometimes 15-20 days and at other times more than 30 days. This time it's been 42 days since my last period and they haven't started. I was diagnosed with DCIS two years ago and had lumpectomy and radiation. i have been on Tamoxifen for 1 and 1/2 year. Is this normal? Do I need to consult an OBGYN
Hi, Thanks for the query. With advancing age hormonal imbalance can develop that can lead to menstrual irregularity. And also surgical procedures, radiation, medicines can affect the menstrual cycles. Anyhow better to consult gynecologist once and get examined to rule out any other possible causes of irregularity. You may need one ultrasound and thyroid profile investigations. With this workup the possible cause for your problem can be identified and if your doctor recommends you can go for treatment.
