It could happen at times in the reproductive cycle of some women to have delayed periods. however, it is always appropriate to do a pregnancy test to rule out a pregnancy. Done too early with usual tests, the test might be negative not ruling out the possibility of a pregnancy. In the case the periods do not come, it might be necessary to get the test done again, usually with blood samples to measure Beta HCG levels which is more sensitive and specific. An ultrasound might be needed to be very sure (transvaginal ultrasound). For now, I think you could be patient and get the test done again in a weeks time in case you don not see your period. Your might need to consult your primary physician then. bye and best regards, Bain LE, MD.
