Dengue, Menstruation Started Platelet Count Increased, Had BP, Thyroid. Chances For Dengue Shock?
Hi,
my mother (52 years) has dengue from past 6 days. Her platelet count was decreasing at a constant rate (15,000/day) starting from 200, 000 for first 5 days. On fifth day, her menstruation (normal flow) started and her platelet count increased by 30,000. She has thyroid and BP problem. Is there any chances for dengue shock?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Praveen's Response
Hi.Increase in platelet count is a good sign and it is a sign of recovery.Thyroid problem and BP can be taken care gradually once she recovers. If she is hospitalized she will be under medical supervision.Shock induced by dengue is usually independent of BP and thyroid.Hope this helps you.She will get well soon.Take care.
