Depressed. Urine And Breath Smells Bad. Urine Test Showed No Infections. What To Do?
hi, I am a 42 year old female. I am married with four children. I have absolutely no energy (this could be brushed off by saying that I have four children...no wonder I have no energy) I feel depressed most of the time and my breath and urine smell very bad. I am wondering if there in an underlying problem. The smell off urine is particularly bad.
Appreciate your opinion on whether on not there may be something going on. I have had two urine checks done by two different doctors in the last 9 months and both have told me that my urine is clear of any infections. Tks Deirdre
The most common cause of foul smelling urine is an urinary infection (that you report having been ruled out). Other causes are dehydration due to reduced water intake or diarrhea, vomiting or excess sweating. A physical examination and blood pressure recording would help. Diabetes, increased sugar excretion in urine is a very common cause which can be tested for by blood sugar levels. Vaginitis or infection of the vaginal tract may also cause this particular symptom. A physician would guide you through the necessary investigations that i have mentioned above.
As far as your mood is concerned, since you report having low mood most of the times, it is advisable to get evaluated by a psychiatrist to rule out the presence of clinically significant depression rather that brushing it away because of being mother of four.
Hope this helps.
