General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thank you for your question. Serta or sertraline is antidepression medicine in the group of Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. The side effect of sertraline can cause in endocrine and metabolic system such as decreased libido 4% to 7%, diabetes mellitus 7%.

Sertraline treated patients have to be followed up for blood insulin and triglyceride levels. So in you treatment plan you need to be adjusted dose as necessary to prevent possible metabolic change.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
