Depression, Anxiety, Self Doubt, Constant Worrying After Quitting Alcohol. Is This Normal?
I ve finally managed to quit drinking, but now I feel the real battle has begun - DEPRESSION , anxiety , fear, self-doubt, and constant worrying. Is it normal to feel this way after quitting alcohol? I feel it has been with me in a lot of areas of my life for so long (I m 24...started when I was 16). Will these feeling subside?
Hello........
Thanks for your query. I would like to complement you for successfully quitting alcohol use. The symptoms you are reporting of like depression/anxiety can be part of withdrawal symptoms. Hence, i would suggest you to undergo evaluation by a psychiatrist/substance use specialist to undergo an effective detoxification process with sedatives (benzodiapines) so that you eliminate withdrawal symptoms.

Hi there ~ It is very common to unmask some of the symptoms of psychiatric disorders when you go off of alcohol or other substances. It may require you to consult a psychiatrist, and I would highly recommend that. Hope this helps. Take care.
