Depression, Weakness, Had Pulmonary Embolism. Been On Viibryd, Effexor, Warfarin And Celexa. Take Seroquel?
Hi I am a 67 yr old female i have been on Vibryd 40 mg 1 a day for about 2 years before that celexa and before that Effexor, for depression. I also take warfarin 10 mg once a week and 7.5 mg the rest of the week, am feeling depressed, listless, not wanting to be around people etc.. Went to my family doctor Wednesday he said try seroquel xr starting on 50 mgs then going to 100 mgs come back in 2weeks also to not stop taking the viibryd 40 mg.haven't started yet and reschuald another apt. With him for Monday as the samples he gave me were 300 mg tabs which I didn't take. My question I have heard not good things on Seroquel from family. He is thinking of me prob. Continuing the Viibryd and also seroquel maybe... .i am worried because of the blood thinner. Is there another possibility of a medicine would be better for depression which I do need. Have had 2 bouts with pulmonary embolism in 2001 and 2004. My daughter died in 1998 age 29 with pulmonary embolis. Thanks for any information. JR
You are a 67 years old female with history of pulmonary embolism in family and currently on warferin 17.5 mg daily. You have also taken vilazodoe, escitaloprama and venlafexine for depression. Recently due to uncontrolled depressive symptoms you have been prescribed quitiapine upto 300 mg doses daily. Qutiapine is known to cause metabolic side effects and to some extent it can increase the risk of embolism. As per my opinion you should consult a Psychiatrist for expert helps. Other medicines you are taking dont affect the lipid metabolism and are safe so you can continue to take these medicines.
Hope this helps you, thanks
