Diabetes, Smoking Addiction, History Of Surgery For Prolapsed Spine Disc, Scheduled To Have Open Heart Surgery. What Is The Success Rate Of This Operation?

My father is schedualed to have open heart surgery this weekend. 3 of his major arteries are blocked. He is diabetic, a smoker and has had one surgery in the past (prolapsed spine disc) How dangerous is open heart surgery? How often do surgical complications arise? All i am worried about is the operation itself. The doctors are highly qualified and the equipment is compltetely modern. What is the success rate of this operation?

now a days with highly qualified skilled doctors , best equipment and good peri operative and post operative care , success rate for heart surgery is very high , so dont worry compare to person who dont have diabetes in your case some risk is there in view of diabetes , and also chances of post operative infection is also there but good control of sugar level will prevent complication related to diabetes
surgery will definitely improve quality of life
