Hi my dad was recently diagnosed with a double para umbilical hernia for which they are going to operate on in 8 weeks time, however I am very worried about the risks as he is very overweight, diabetic etc and he is apparently a carrier of MRSA and the last time he had an operation (at the same hospital) he caught a post operative infection which nearly killed him, however that was 7years ago and he was much thinner and healthier. He has been advised to lose weight which Im sure he will try to do but as he is in a lot of pain and only has 8weeks im not sure how much he will be able to lose. My Dad wont really discuss it and I just want to be aware of all the risks.
