Diabetic. Cut Pinky Finger After Diagnosing Infection. Doctors Now Say They Did Not Find Any Infection. What To Do?
My father is a Diabetic, he has been fighting a sore on his left foot for some time. He was running a high fever then went to the hospital. They did an MRI and they said it looked like the bone was infected. They did surgery and cut his pinkie toe off and pretty much straight down. They get the coulters back 5 days later to find there was no infection…….what can he do now??? is this standard ??
Diabetics are more prone for ischemia(Gangrene) due to lack of blood and oxygen. This can be infected secondarily by bacteria and cause sepsis. In fact any dead tissue has to be removed to prevent infection and sepsis. So I my opinion if the tissue was a dead bone than it is the right treatment.
