Diagnosed PCOS. Taking Metformin. Have Spotting Of Brown Discharge, Cramps, Tired, Emotional
I am a 28 year old female, healthy weighing 123 and very active. I was diagnosed with PCOS last March, 2012. My boyfriend and I use the pull out method, although earlier this month we had an oops. Now that I am on metformin I've had regular periods each month, although this month has been weird. I had a spotting of brown discharge Monday last week then pink when I wiped for 2 days after. I had slight cramps as if my period was coming but nothing. I've taken a hpt but it was neg. I've been extremely emotional and tired. I'm very confused.
Hi, Thanks for the query. PCOS can present with symptoms like irregular menstrual cycles, anovulation etc. So the delay in periods you are having could be due to that. But as you are not using any contraceptive method, there is possibility of pregnancy also. Sometimes preejaculate fluid can contain few spermatozoa. So, once go for blood test for pregnancy or wait for 3 to 4 days and repeat urine test. If the test comes negative, the possibility of pregnancy is less. Possibly within one week you may get periods. If not consult gynecologist once and take tablets for withdrawal bleeding. Better to use contraceptive pills, which will help in treating PCOS also. Take care.
