Diagnosed Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy. Prescribed High Dose Of Prednisone For Swelling. On Multiple Medications. Help

My wife has had a stroke of the optic nerves on both eyes and is rapidly losing eyesight in both eyes. It was diagnosed as Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy. She has been seen by an optometrist, opthamologist, emergency room doctors and neurologist, has had a spinal tap, numerous tests, etc. and so far no one can prescribe a course of action other than high dose of prednisone to try reduce swelling. Any suggestions? She is taking a number of medications (flexeril, celexa, ambien, hydrocodone, citalopram, cyclobenzaprine, diazapam, phentermine, and zolpidem. I am wondering about interactions between the drugs or any suggestions on how to proceed.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..
Anterior ischemic optic neuropathy has to be treated with steroids..
And other include vasodilators to improve blood circulation and anti anxiety drugs to relieve her of anxiety...
Others may be you are using from before...
I agree there are too many medications but all are required..
May be you can skip either diazepam or zolpidem with your doctor's advice..
Keep discussing with your doctor about the progress and do tell him/her about any symptom which is bothering her...
Hope this information helps you .. Take care...
