Diagnosed Asthenospermia. Trying For Baby. Suggest Medication To Improve Sperm Quality

Dear Doctor Sukhvinder Singh Rekhraj, I am 41 years old and my wife is 34 years. Married life about 8 years. We have been trying for a baby for about last 5 years. My sperm motility is less and variable. Some results are, 09/2010 - 20% , 2/2011 - 15.5%, 04/2011 - 29.9%, 06/2011 - 5.2%, 6/2011 - 40%(different Lab), 09/2011 - 20% (different lab), 06/2012 - 5.04%, 07/2012 - 5.8%,12/2012 - 4.5%. Count is satisfactory. Morphology is below 20%. It is diagnosed as asthenospermia. All investigation results of my wife are normal. She underwent IUI also. I never underwent any treatment/medication. Could you please suggest me some medicine for asthenospermia to improve sperm quality.

Hello
Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have
what is called as Asthenospermia.
Sperm count of motile sperm that you have posted is of total motile sperms or active grade 1 sperms?
It is the active grade 1 forward progressive sperms that are important from the point of view for effective fertilization of a female egg.
Normal minimum acceptable count of active motile grade 1 sperm by Infertility clinics all over the world is 15%.
Truly speaking there are no medicines available so far to increase the motility of sperms.

Please consult qualified infertility specialist for proper evaluation and advice regarding help of newly assisted reproductive techniques like IVF or ICSI, to have pregnancy.

Welcome to HCM.
Your wife is normal but you have not enough motile sperm count. So you have to go for other investigations to rule out any under lying condition.Go for CBC,B12,D3,Thyroid profile, std profile,USG for testis, prostate, abdomen.
Treat any under lying condition if is there.
Start multi vitamin,b12,vitamin-e, and other preparations which contains pantothanic acid, copper, molybdenum, selenium.
Otherwise IUI is best method for her with your semen and if failed than with donor semen.
Keep in touch with your doctor.
