Diagnosed Bacteria In Urine, Takes Macrobid, Allergic To Most Antibiotic. Treatment?
just had a physical the DR told me I had Bacteria in my Urine. I normally take Macrobid but the doctor said that this type of Bacteria cannot be healed with Macrobid.I'm allergic to most Antibiotic(Pennicilin-Sulfer -Levaquin drugs and many other drugs,I take 1/4 tsp baking soda-AZO Urinary Cranberry 2 times a day to help the symptoms. What else can I doo.please help.I'm 78 years old very active and in good health,

Hello Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have UTI and have been advised to take antibiotic by your family Physician.
Please get your routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.
Please take broad spectrum antibiotics along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.and later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.It is not possible to you will have allergy to all the antibiotics.
Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.
Ensure to drink more water.To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.
