Diagnosed Emphysema After Spiromatry Test By Practice Nurse. Visit To Doctor Needed?
My Doctor sent me for a number of tests including chest x-ray blood test and recently a lung/blowing test with the practice nurse. It was after this spiromatry test that the nurse diagnosed emphysema. Is the practice nurse qualified to make a diagnosis, and prescribe medication or should I go back and see doctor? Thanks
Hi, With spirometry test alone can not stamp the disease as emphysema. Nurse doing spirometry has to give the report of spirometry, she can not diagnose. With comparing all reports diagnosis has to be made by your doctor and he is authorize to give prescription. So consult your doctor again with all these reports and follow his advice and treatment. Ok and take care.
