Diagnosed Osteo Arthritis. Knee Pain While Climbing Stairs, Doing Exercise. Will Get Worse On Getting Older?
Dear Doctor, I was diagnosed with osteo arthritis about 15 years back and when I claim stairs I get pain in the knee joints and while doing yogic exercises, the knees wont be straight, (I am practising yogic exercises since 20 years) The problem has not worsened over the years. Will the problem worsen as I get older.I am around 58 years old. Please advise.
Degenerative arthritis in the joints tend to increase with advancing age and there is no way to stop them. However, you can slow down this degeneration by having a healthy life style, regular aerobic activity involving the joints and muscles, Protecting your self from any injury or fall, taking daily calcium & Vit D3 supplementations etc.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Yes two things would happen as age advance . Level of uric acid will increase , if proper treatment would not taken. Amount of synovial fluid will decrease in joints. So condition will worse in future. Get complete treatment , now a days complete treatment is available . Lemon juice (two lemon ) twice in day with hot water ( don't add salt or sugar ) on empty stomach will provide relief as it reduces uric acid level in blood . Upload the X ray of knee joint over this site for further evaluation. Good luck. Dr. HET

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hi,
Osteoarthritis( wear-and-tear arthritis) occurs when the protective cartilage on the ends of your bones wears down over time. Osteoarthritis treatments can slow the progression of the disease, relieve pain and improve joint function. Do regular Exercise- Stick to gentle exercises, such as walking, biking or swimming. Lose weight if you are obese Use heat and cold to manage pain. Apply over-the-counter pain creams. Take diet rich in calcium, vitamin d3 and minerals.
Hope this helps you.
