Diagnosed Positive For TV By Culture. What Is The Best Way To Protect My Family From Getting TV Through Droplets Exposure?

I have a friend that was recently diagnosed positive for TV by culture. Please help me decide what is the best way to protect my family from getting TV through droplets exposure? Do they all need to have a skin tests and treat the ones with the positive skin tests only? Or treat them all regardless of the results of the skin tests? What would be the your recommendation? Or what would be the best treatment or medication for them? God bless you always! From MDA.

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Chances of T.B spread is more if patient is having open cavity in lungs.
In all cases of T.B ,during patient contact other persons should use mask. Also patient should be told that during coughing he/she should use handkerchief over mouth and also use mask at other times. In this way chances of spread can be decreased.
Patient becomes disinfectant after one month of taking anti tubercular drugs.so,he/she should take drugs regularly.
No all persons need not to go for skin test.
Get well soon.

Take Care
