Hi. Hepatitis B virus HBV is usually transmitted either through transfusion of infected blood, which may not be detected on routine serological testing in the early stages of infection of the donor, through sexual transmission in both homo/hetero- sexuals and through sharing of needles during iv drug abuse. The other way is by vertical transmission from mother to baby. So food is not a source of HBV infection. Even if you acquire HBV, most are cleared by the body in 6 months time, while some develop a chronic infection and that may lead to hepatitis or liver inflammation and liver damage. So get yourself tested for the following HBsAg, Anti-HBs, HBeAg, Anti-HBe. This will give an idea of the status of the infection whether cleared or active and replicating. Thank you.
