What can I do when this pain comes besides got he the emergency room? I live in Nova Scotia and when I go to my hospital I usually have to wait 4-6 hours to see a DOC!

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The pain in xiphoid process is usually inflammatory in nature and subsides with rest and taking anti inflammatory medicines. Doing a hot fomentation and application of a local analgesic gel will also help.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
