Diagnosed With A Lazy Left Eye, Right Eye Patched, Glasses For Left. Complains Of Unclear Vision. Could Prescription Be Wrong ?
Hello Doc, my son has been diagnosed with a lazy left eye. He has the right eye patched and his left eye has glasses with the following prescription: Subjective-refraction SPH +250, CYL -025, AXIS 15, VA 6/9 and Cyclo-refraction SPH +300, CYL -05, AXIS 15, VA 6/9. He is complaining that he cant see very clearly with the glasses when doing his homework and wants to read without the glasses. Could his prescription be wrong.
Ideally the patient should try to see with the lazy eye with other eye being patched for at least 5 days a week. This will help to make the lazy eye active. Initially there may be some difficulty in reading with lazy eye but the patient should keep on trying with other eye patched. If he finds it impossible to carry out his routine activities with normal eye patched, the procedure should be adopted to the maximum possible.
It is always better to opt for cyclo-refraction for prescription of glasses.
Regards
