Diagnosed With Atrial Fibrillation. Numbness In Neck And Arm, Has Afib Episodes. Stroke?
My mother is 75 y.o. and has been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation . She is on Pradaxa but recently when she has afib episodes she often has numbness in her neck and down one arm - sometimes the right, sometimes the left. She s been in the hospital, gone to the ER and called her doctor and they don t appear to be very concerned. Is this dangerous? She is very worried about having a stroke .
In the presence of risk factor like A-fib, the possibility can not be easily excluded.
TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) leading to face and upper limb paresis is a possibility.
MRI (and/or MRA) may help.
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
