Diagnosed With Orthostatic Hypotension. Taking Generic Florief. Get Headaches And Feel Dizzy. Remedy?
A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension and have been taking generic Florief (Fludrocort 0.1 mg) since. More recently I have had to adjust my dosage to 1/2 every other night since my BP has sometimes been high. Last Friday morning's readings were good: sitting 121/68-70, standing 101/65-75. I took 1/2 pill at bedtime. I did not check on Saturday but Sunday am readings were 144/79-65 sitting & 121/71-71 standing. Today am: 103/63-69 sitting, 80/50-75 standing and at 5:40 pm 120/62-70 sitting. I am puzzled by why my BP readings are so erractic, sometimes HIGH and sometimes LOW. I get headaches & am dizzy when it is high and yet I am very dizzy when it is low. Any suggestions on how to keep it consistent?
Hello, Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query. I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through. This seems to be a difficult case to maintain a BP. Normally it doesnt happen this way. I suppose you should get a USG abdomen to have a look at the adrenals and renal artery if there is anything else that is leading to these fluctuations. Further you need to keep yourself hydrated. If the hydration is not proper then fludrocort may behave in such erratic way. Hope I am able to answer your concerns. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
