Diagnosed With Slow Heart Beat Rate. Advised Angiograph. Undergone Angioplast With Stent For Valve. Advise?
my mother is identified with a slow heart beat rate of 35 , Docs are advising for angiograph to identify the cause . she has previsoly under gone a angioplast of the heart with a stent for her valve , 1and 1/2 year back.
is ther any other alernate CT scan or MIR of heart that is advisable instead of angiogram . pls give reason why you suggest so ?
Angiogram is the gold standard, against which the others are compared. It is usually done for delineating the arteries... CT & MRI are not fool proof; if positive, you will need angio anyway... For heart rate, advanced techniques of investigation is Electro Physiological Studies (EPS) > it resembles angio – a catheter is put inside the heart / electrical activity recorded / stimulation and suppression tests are carried out / suitable medicine tested and so on. It is INVASIVE and is not generally done unless there are compelling indications. This super-speciality expert is called ELECTRO-PHYSIOLOGIST. The treating doctor may suggest them depending on need, based on his assessment of the situation.
