Immunochemiluminometric assay or ICMA is test to detect HIVantibodies. It is a diagnostic test for qualitative determination of antibodies to the human immunodeficiency virus type 1, including group O, and/or type 2 in serum or plasma. This test is FDA approved and so is quite sensitive and specific test to detect HIV.
In above readings the test is negative or we can say nonreactive to HIV1, O and 2. Now there is an important point to be made as at what time after the suspected exposure this test was done, if it was done within window period(the time period from exposure to the appearance of antibodies) then the reliability is less, but if done after window period then the sensitivity and specificity of this assay are 100% and 99.9%, respectively.
If the test sera are repeatedly reactive in two out of three tests then is confirmed by the Western blot method.
