hello,, Doctor plz help me i am 29 year old chewing tobacco for 7-8 year and now i stop taking tobacco from last 1and 1/2 year but still i am not able to open my mouth properly, and i go for treatment like taking injection and ray therapy but its not working still my problem is same. could you please advice me what to do for come out from these problem.
Hi, Congratulation for stopping chewing tobacco. You developed submucous fibrosis giving rise to this problem. It will take some time to get improvement in your condition. Go for regular mouth opening exercise like wide opeing your mouth, for 5 minutes 3-4 times a day. Do Feel fresh gargles. Local cortizone injection may give result. Ok and take care.

Thanks for writing to us.
Your condition is called Oral submucous fibrosis. As you told that you leave all habits its good you have various treatment for this if you facing this problem with strong pain than you should consult with dentist as soon as possible and if pain is not than you can overcome from this problem with some exercise
Exercise step as follow
1-Open your mouth as much you can
2- Keep your two fingers in between your teeth for 5 min.
3- Repeat this 5-10 times each day
4- After 3 to 4 days try 3-4 finger same as last step.
5- Do this exercise for 2-3 weeks

You have developed a condition called as ORAL SUBMUCOUS FIBROSIS. This is a pre-cancerous condition. Proper oral examinations in required from an expert to evaluate the condition for any oral ulcer or swelling in any part of the cavity to rule out any cancerous condition. To treat this condition, an intense medication and oral injections therapy is required. Consult a dentist and start taking the treatment as soon as possible.
As an advise of alert, this is condition is 100% reversible if tobacco is restarted.

According to your clinical symptoms i suppose that you are suffering from the condition called as ORAL SUBMUCOUS FIBROSIS (OSMF). I would suggest you to consult to an Oral Surgeon and get the checkup done. Take an OPG radiograph. Mouth exercises has to be performed which will be demonstrated to you by your Dentist. Take multivitamin suplements. Take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
