Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I was diagnosed with Disc buldge L4,L5, and L5,S1 with mild compression of the thecal sac following a car accident in 2009. My toes go numb, and I have a lot of pain and swelling in my low back. I have since developed Sacrioliitis which is very painful and went through 8 months of intense physical therapy just so I could walk again. I am able to sit walk or stand for a few hours now. 1. Does Sacrioliitis ever go away? 2. Can these buldging discs be healed without surgery after a year? Is the numbness caused by the compression of the thecal sac? Kind Regards, Kayla
Hi kayla.. the Sacroiliatis is caused due to the compression of the nerve root in the sacral region..
This will lead to more inflammation, intensifying the pain... The numbness in the lower limb , is the starting sign of the compression.. this may progress to paralysis of the limb, hence the only solution is surgery, medication or physiotherapy cannot cure it...
Hope I have answered your question..
Takecare...
