Distal Radius Fracture. On Cast. Would Removal Of Cast And Going Into Brace In 5 Weeks Instead Of 6 Week Mark Cause Problem?
I have a distal radius fracture(non-displaced) i was due to be in a cast for 6 weeks, however i would like to have it removed at the 5 week mark due to my work commitments. Im still young 23, and I would like to take the cast off and go into brace. I have been very compliant with the Orthopods instructions for healing. Could this be an option?
hallo dear friend
i hv studied your case
how you had any injury to forearm
if fracture was undisplaced
and todays position on Xray is good
you can remove cast and
do range of motion exersizes and use brace for rest of time
avoid lifting weight?
take rest , take some analgesic , hot or cold fomentation
for further query contact drvaibhavg@yahoo.com
There may not be a problem - if it is simple, as it has not been displaced...
Generally, it takes six weeks to heal / and a few more weeks for complete recovery.
You will need Physiotherapy after removal - there may be some stiffness and contractures from long immobilisation...
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
