Hello,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
First of all i want to advise you some thing which is very important for your future life.
Never withdraw any chronic drug intake without physician advice.
As some drugs need progressive tapering of dose.
Then I come to your query.
I suspect you may have benign paroxysmal positional vertigo ( BPPV).
It is a small
inner ear problem but distressing day to day life.
It usually cause
dizziness while changing the position of head.
You have to understand something about this. There is a fluid in inner ear which contain
calcium carbonate crystals. Dislodgement of these crystals cause BPPV.
It is best diagnosed by physical examination and normal examination of ear. But we need some basic investigations to confirm our diagnosis.
Audiogram, Neurological examination.
There is a specific test for BPPV called Dr.Hall pikes test. It will help in yielding diagnosis.
Electronystagmogram may be helpful.
All other symptoms like
sleeplessness,
numbness, pulled calf muscle feeling are due to withdrawal effects of
venlafaxine sandoz xr.
You need the progressive tapering of venlafaxine.
If you suspect whether you have
amyloidosis, then simple abdominal wall fat biopsy for amyloid deposits will be helpful. I do not think you may have amyloidosis.
Hope this helps. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
Regards,
Dr.Manjeth
