Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Do Lamictal And Lamotrigine Cause Neuropathy In The Long Run?
I ve taken Lamictal for 20 years. Ånd lamotrigine for approximately 3 years for left temporal lobe partial complex epilepsy. Works quite well, but I am now feeling a lot of arthritic or neuropathy pain. I have a seizure every month or 2 ; ddon t always lose consciousness. My big question is what is the cumulative effect of Lamitcal. - lamotrigine after 22 years of use. Why do I have so much pain? Mood good, weight is good. Thanx! Based on what I ve read at this web site there is a huge number of reactions to using lamotrigine - maybe some generics are better - consistent than others. Maybe all of us users should be asked to rate the various sources..
There are many side effects of Lamotrigine tablet consumption which is used for control of seizure disorder, the common one is being tremors but not neuropathy. However, if particular concern is raised, I would recommend: - Thorough neurology assessment - Nerve conduction studies involving upper and lower peripheral nerves
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
