Do Multivitamin Supplements Have Any Adverse Effects On The Fetus?

Just found out that i am five weeks pregnant and up until today i was taking a regular woman s multivitamin. The IU of vitamin A is 2500, vitamin d3 is 800. Also noticed that there is more Molydbenum (38 mcg) than the prenatal that i bought. Should i be concerned? Also, are there any other vitamins or minerals that may cause harm if they are not in the correct prenatal dosage? Thank you very much, this will be my first baby so im paranoid about basically everything.

Hello,

Among the vitamins, Vitamin A is considered teratogenic (may cause fetal abnormalities) but the dose you have been using is way below the teratogenic dose (10000 Ui and above). Thus, very likely your child is not at increased risk of abnormalities due to its use.
On the other hand, it is safer to avoid using it and I would recommend you to use only prenatal vitamins to be on the safe side.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
