Do Bunions Pain More During Winter Months?

About a year ago, my podiatrist told me the pain I have on my foot was a bunion. Having never seen one, I was a little surprised. However, I did buy better fitting shoes and I do ice it a few times a week, or whenever it seems to be especially painful. Yet, the bunion bothers me much more than it used to. My question is two parts: First, do bunions hurt more in the winter, like a bad knee for example? and, second, at what point should I consider surgical options?

Hi,

Yes, bunion may increase pain levels after knee arthritis due to abnormal posture. It may be treated with splinting, support, physical therapy and pain killers.

If symptoms not improved please consult your surgeon he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
