Do Chest Pain, Weight Loss And Skin Issues Suggest Alcoholic Liver Cirrhosis?

My husband my husband is drinking a 30 pack of beer every other day, complaining of chest pain, isn’t eating correctly, losing weight, cognitive issues, making bad decisions, has skin problems - such as , itching, redness, pain, open sores, and has been having urine incontinence when he sleeps. Does it mean he is in the start of alcoholic liver cirrhosis

Hello,

Suggestive of Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome. Based on the history given your husband seems to be suffering from Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome. It is a neurological disorder due to deficiency of vitamin B1 (Thiamine) which is more common on chronic alcoholics with poor nutrition. He should be examined by a doctor immediately and to carry out certain lab tests to confirm the diagnosis. He may be given intravenous thiamine to prevent further damage. He should stop consuming alcohol to prevent further brain damage and should take a well-balanced, nourishing diet.
