Hello,
Thank you for your query.
A recent illness can leave affect your immunity and leave you prone to other illnesses. It is normal to feel fatigued and have a headache when you are ill.
However, if the recovery time (about 7-10 days for a
cold) is prolonged, or she still feels fatigued and run down even after she gets over her cold, there could be a medical reason like
anemia,
thyroid problems,
diabetes.
poor diet, lack of sleep & rest also makes you prone to diseases.
I would
: examine her clinically. If there are no specific symptoms other than of a cold, I would give her appropriate treatment, advice, rest, nutritious and timely meals and extra rest.
: once that is over, I would ask for a follow up to assess he general status, get a detailed family and personal medical history, analyse if she has any subtle symptoms of lingering fatigue or anemia.
: if so, I would ask for the relevant blood tests and investigations (depending on her symptoms)
:more often than not, there are correctable causes which can influence a person drastically especially if they are already worn out.
about her current symptoms :
Reducing temperatures (to normal)usually indicate healing. She should take rest and hydrate herself well (
dehydration remains the silent triggers in many diseases and is not given much importance- I mean water is required for everything in our body, more so during an illness).
Vitamin C may help to improve healing and immunity (avoid if she has
gastritis). natural sources are better.
If her symptoms worsen or she doesn't get better in a week, she should see a doctor.
Hope this helps. Please get back to us for any further queries.
Wish you both good health.
