Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, My mom is 88 years old, had a bad cold and was told she had asthmati bronchitis, her Dr. prescribed her Flovent HFA and Albuterol HFA. Why both? Do they do the same thing? From reading online about them it sounds like it to me and we really can t afford both of them.
Hi, Flovent HFA is a corticosteroid inhaler medicine and Albeturol is a bronchodilator inhaler. Both to gather gives good control on breathlessness. Both can be used at a time. But if asthma attack is mild then you can use Albuterol inhaler. So you can use both or single as per severity of attack and advice of your doctor. Ok and take care.
