Do Laxatives Affect The Effectiveness Of Contraceptive Pill?

hi doctor,i am currently on a 3 month injection contraceptive method,last week I used laxatives to clean my stomach ,and a week after that I had unprotected sex,is there a possibility that drinking the laxatives cleaned out the injection and could I possible get pregnant.pls help

Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM.

Laxatives are not absorbed and only clear the contents of the gastrointestinal tract. You are having contraceptive drug injections which enter directly in your blood stream and have no contact with GIT. these two drugs do not interact with each other so it is not possible that laxative cancelled the effect of your contraceptive.
