Do The Treatment For Plantar Wart Affect Pregnancy?
I ve been treating two plantar warts for about a week now with Dr. Scholl s Freeze Away and other topical treatments... I am 13 weeks pregnant and just became aware that there are some risks with self-treating plantar warts. Do I need to be worried that I have harmed my developing fetus? I have stopped the treatment ASAP but am so worried that I may have caused birth defects or done other harm to the developing fetus. Please give me your input.
It is nice that you have concern about the baby in your womb. Many medicines taken during pregnancy may cross over to the foetus and affect its development.
Dr. Scholl s Freeze Away, contains Dimethyl Ether, Propane which are acting locally. However, it is not to be used during pregnancy and breast feeding as it is uncertain how Freeze Away may affect people under these conditions. It is good that you have discontinued the use of this medicine.
To assess whether your baby is affected or not, please report to your Obstetrician or Foetal Medicine Consultant, who will carry out certain investigations and ultrasonography if needed to guide you further.
I hope you will take the further steps instead of just worrying over the problem.
