Does Amiodarone Prescription Avoids The Ablations In Future?

a pt has had 2 ablations. First one successful for 1 yr, second one of 2 mths ago did not work.Put on loading dose of Amiodarone x 4 days and today has carioconversion. Any chance of success or is this just a quick fix to bide time for another ablation?

Amiodarone is used to control arrhythmias. It may control the arrhythmia for a long time. But any drug has the potential to lose effectiveness. I don't believe it's being used as a quick fix for biding time. Ablations have failed twice. I suspect the amiodarone is being used as an alternative to further ablations. Hope this answers your query. If you have further questions, I would be happy to answer them.
