I was put on Aricept by my doctor 5 months ago, as I have a family history of Alzheimer s. My husband died 14 months ago following a long illness during which time I got very little sleep or time to work (I am a portrait painter and my studio is in my home). While I did not have any specific symptoms of Alzheimer s and the test my doctor sent me for was negative for Alzheimer s, she noted that my tendency to be occasionally forgetful was a little more pronounced than in earlier years and recommended that I begin taking Aricept and then add a second one each day. Although I am not having any pronounced side effects, I have lost weight that I really did not need to lose and am finding it hard to gain it back, and so I would like to slowly discontinue the Aricept. Do you see a problem with my doing that?
