Does Betnesol Injection Have Adverse Side Effects During Pregnancy?
My gynech suggested me betnesol ìnjection 12mg. I am 32 week pregnant. Does taking this injection has side effects? This is my 1st pregnancy and am a bit concerned as to is it compulsory to take this steroid? If i hav a preterm labori will it be normal vaginal delivery or c section ? Do preterm babies get delivered through vagina ? What are their chances of survival if i happen to deliver at 35 or 36 weeks ?
Hello dear Understand your concern. Betnesol injection contain steroid that can be used in pregnancy in severe condition like Pre term labor and immature lung syndrome. So it is given for lung maturation in your case. It does not affect the pregnancy to much, but most important is lung maturation of baby. It also produce lung surfactant. So yes you have to take steroids. In most of cases pre term baby delivers by c-section but it s depend on mother and fetus condition at the time of delivery. About 5 to 10 percent pre term require admission to ICU and have complication like respiratory distress syndrome, low birth weight, sepsis and jaundice.
Hope this may help you Best regards Dr. Sagar
