Hi ! my wife has been tested with cmv igg and cmv igm positive, she had a miscarrige when she tried to concive for the first time but after that she concived and gave birth to child 5 years ago, after the birth she tried to concive again for three times but miscarried everytime all tests have beign done everything is normal ascept cmv which is positive. she has taken medical treatment for cmv for 3 months but the result is stell positive.My question is does cmv prevent prenancy, are the miscarriges a result of cmv positive ?

About 85 to 90 percent of newborns with congenital CMV have "silent" infections, meaning that they have no symptoms at birth. The vast majority of these babies continue to do well and end up having no CMV-related complications. (Some of these babies — about 5 to 15 percent —develop problems later, most commonly hearing loss.)It can also cause miscarriage at sumtyms. So I will suggest you to consult with your obstetrician as soon as possible. Thank you.
