Does Carvedilol Cause A Burning Sensation On The Tongue?
hi my mother have lung cancer and she in taking several difference drugs she also have a kidney disease the change her heart medication to Cravedilol 6.25 mg she did find the first day today she ate shrimp and took her Carvedilol and felt a burning senstation on her toungue could this be a side effect
Hi, thanks for your query, I can understand your concerns about your mother’s condition.
Answer: Carvedilol has not been known to cause burning sensation on tongue. However, one can develop allergy to any medication/food if they have the susceptibility. There is a possibility that it was some sort of allergic reaction to the food (shrimp) she had.
It would be helpful if you told us whether your mother had any history of allergy (including food allergy), dermatitis, asthma or something on that line.
I would recommend that you watch her when she takes the medications next time, and also try to avoid shrimps for the time being. If she developed any such sensations, contact the doctor as soon as possible.
Hope it helps. And please do not hesitate to contact in the case of any confusion.
