Does Febuxostat Consumption Raise SGPT Levels In The Body?

I was having frequent bouts of Gout attacks and found that my uric acid levels were 9 mg/dl. I started taking febuxostat 80mg once daily and with 2 days the uric acid levels dropped to 6.9, but my SGPT is 61 is this a normal drug reaction or should i discontinue using febuxostat ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since your SGPT level got raised after taking Febuxostat, you can report to your treating doctor so that your treating doctor will order to test the liver enzymes & accordingly the medication can be monitored.

Control uric acid by taking healthy diet. Avoid red meat, focus on lean meat, low-fat dairy products, processed food, refined carbohydrates, cut on alcohol, sodas & sugary food. Exercise regularly & drink plenty of water.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
