Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Flecainide Cause Inflammation In Back, Hands And Knee?
I am on Flecainide 200 mg for past two years. I have been diagnosed with anemia and osteoarthritis. Low RBC, Platelets. Very fatigued and weak. No energy. Also I have swelling and inflammation in back, hands and knee. Claw hands. Could Flecainide be the cause of this? It all started after starting med.
Flecainide is an anti-arrhythmic drug used to prevent serious heart rhythm disorders such as supraventricular arrhythmias and ventricular arrhythmias.
Its common side effects include dizziness, vision problems, trouble breathing, headache, nausea or feeling weak or tired. It is unlikely to cause inflammation of the joints as described in your query.
Based on the history given you seem to be suffering from an inflammatory type of arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis until proved otherwise. I advise you to consult a rheumatologist for further evaluation and treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
