Does Fludrocortisone Interact With Hydrocortisone?
I was recently diagnosed with addisons disease. I am taking fludrocortisone 0.1mg along with hydrocortisone 10mg (as a tapering dose). I started taking 150mg a day for first 3 days. Now i m taking 100 mg for 3 days. Then 80 mg, then 60, then 40, then 20mg in am and 10mg in pm daily. I live with my sister and her husband. When ever she prepares a meal, usually with some liquid it gives me the shakes.
Fludrocortisone and hydrocortisone are very important treatments in Addison disease. They can be safely used together. In addition, Addison disease can be life-threatening if not treated appropriately so you will need to follow the instructions of your doctor precisely. You may need to also wear a wrist band that says you have Addison so in case of an accident, doctors will know you have this condition and assist you better.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
