Does Grapefuit Interfere With Metformin And Lisinopril?

I love Eating this one variety of Philippine grapefruit. However, I m presently taking metformin, glipizide, amlodopine, hyzaar, metoprolol, Lipitor. My husband is taking metformin, glipizide, lisinopril, atenolol, Crestor, levothyroxide. Will eating grapefruit affect our medications? Is it okey to eat the grapefruit after 2 hours after we take our mess?

Hello,

Eating fruit is unlikely to affect or interfere with present medications being taken. However, since both have diabetes, only about 100 g per day should be taken. Taking extra is likely to cause increase in blood glucose.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar
