Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could you tell me whether Lanzaprazole has been linked in any way to causing ectopic heart beats? Currently I am taking 30mg every morning to combat acid, but have been experiencing more than normal ectopic heartbeats in the last week or so.
Would be grateful for your advice and any help you could give me on ectopics. I would add that I have had many tests to check out my heart and it seems in good shape. It's just that one AF attack 4 years ago seems to have sparked off these awful ectopics.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Lansoprazole is a commonly prescribed drug and does not cause any ectopic heart beats and it can be taken safely even in a cardiac patient. You can consult a cardiologist and get serial ECG monitoring to find out the ectopic beats and he will direct you accordingly. If you having an abnormal rhythm you might require drugs like metoprolol for controlling the cardiac rhythm.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
